External SFTP means Actuals pulls files from a server owned by you or a third party. Contrast with Actuals SFTP, where you push to
sftp.actuals.io.Use this when the other party cannot upload to Actuals but can expose an SFTP drop folder.
What Actuals needs
Typical credentials:
- Host (for example
sftp.application.com)
- Username and password (or SSH key — share a short connect guide with your consultant)
- Port (often
22)
- Paths / folder layout for each dataset
Share these with your implementation consultant so Actuals can configure retrieval.
IP whitelisting
If the external SFTP restricts by IP, whitelist Actuals:
