Critical: rule order

Rules run top to bottom. Only the first matching rule is applied. Review and save sorting carefully before relying on automation.

What you can do

Create, edit, reorder, test, and delete rules. Filter the list by Matching package (or All packages). Columns typically include ID, Name, Matching sources, Category, Transactions explained, and Definition (for example “Filtered by N”). Row actions include reorder, view, edit, and delete.

Create a rule

  1. Choose Create explanation rule.
  1. Set name, explain category, and target status (for example Explained and approved, or Unmatched with no explanation).
  1. Select matching sources (or packages) the rule applies to.
  1. Add conditions (parameter, operator, value).
  1. Optionally Test rule against matching transactions before saving.
  1. Save, then Save sorting if you reordered rules.
You can create a new explain category from the rule form when needed.

Tips

  • Keep high-priority, narrow rules above broad catch-alls
  • After changing rules, re-run matching or wait for the schedule so new explanations apply
  • Manual explanations on Exceptions still override day-to-day work when automation does not cover a case
