To retrieve data from Shift4, you will need to establish an integration with an SFTP (Secure File Transfer Protocol) server.
This process involves two steps. First, you must request a Shift4 SFTP server from the Shift4 team. Second, you will share the SFTP server credentials with the Actuals team. Actuals will connect the SFTP server to the Actuals platform.

Step 1: Requesting an SFTP Server from Shift4

To obtain an SFTP server from Shift4, please follow the instructions outlined in Shift4’s SFTP server request manual. Additional information can be accessed via the following link: Shift4 SFTP Server Request Manual (Only the parts on how to contact Shift4 support and the available reports are relevant)
Shift4 offers various types of export files to the SFTP server. For matching purposes, we require the following exports:
  • Authorisation Activity Report - The Authorisation Activity report contains all authorisation requests received by Shift4.
  • Processing Activity Report - The Processing Activity Report displays all transaction clearing requests received by Shift4.
To ensure that you have a comprehensive historical dataset, we recommend requesting Shift4 to generate exports for the past periods as well. For at least 1 more period than you expect to need for the reconciliation.

Step 2: Sharing SFTP credentials with Actuals

Once Shift4 has set up your SFTP server, you will receive the following information:
  • Username
  • Password
  • Hostname (likely to be datax.credorax.com)
  • Port (likely to be 22)
If Shift4 requests a IP-addresses for whitelisting please contact your Actuals implementation consultant for these IP addresses.
Please share this information with your Actuals implementation consultant, who will use it to establish the necessary data retrieval connections.
